Airport development budget for FY2007 is reduced first time in the last four years

Budget draft for FY2007 starting April 1 2007,released by the Ministry of Finance (MOF) to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MLIT) on December 20 this year, shows that Airport Development Special Account is reduced by 1.5% to 563.8 billion yen compared to the FY2006 budget, although MLIT requested 638 billion yen for airport developments. The budget draft is reduced for the first time in the past four fiscal years.

IATA airfares for Korea and Southeast Asia will be raised by 7% in FY2007

IATA Tariff Coordinating Conference for Asia and Oceania flights has recently decided to raise IATA international airfares between Japan and Korea and Southeast Asia by 7% for F, C and Yclasses in FY2007 (April 1 2007 toMarch 31 2008), however Y2 airfares between Japan and Guam or Northern Mariana will be left unchanged.

Also, F, C and Y classes for flights between Japan and South Asia, including India will be raised by 5%. With regard toSouthwest Pacific flights, including Australia, airfares for F class and C class will be raised by 2% and 5% respectively, however airfares for Y class will be left unchanged.
