*ANA Sales successfullyachieve more operating profit than initially planned

ANA Sales President Koji Ono revealed at an interview with the Wing Travel Weekly that it has achieved operating profit of 2,700 million yen for FY2005, 10% less than operating profit for FY2004, but 5 million yen more than the initial target. Consolidated transactions for FY2005 reached 276 billion yen, 8% more than a year ago.

*Active America was joined by more than 40 buyers from Japan

The 15th Active America Travel Summit started in Montreal, Quebec on April 12, joined by more than 40 buyers from Japan and more than 70 suppliers from the U.S. and Canada. It was the largest-scale ever in its history. Tourism Montreal President and CEO Charles Lapointe said at an opening event, "Active America is an event to introducetourist attractions of both America and Canada to Japan. I believe it is a good chance for Japanese buyers to know about the two different tourist destinations better."

*JTB forecasts the most-ever Japanese will go abroad during this GW

JTB released a travel forecast for this Golden Week (April 26 to May 6), reporting that the number of Japanese overseas travelers will be up 3.9% to 565,000 approximately compared to a year ago. It is the most-ever Japanese overseas travelers during GW, more than 564,000 overseas travelers during the GW 2000.
JTB also forecasts that the number of domestic travelers during the period may reach 21.34 million, 0.6% more than a year ago. The forecast represents the second most domestic travelers during GW, following theGW in 2001.

*JTB will begin the business of its independent corporation in Shanghai

JTB announced on March 29 that it would begin full-scale business of JTB (Shanghai) International Tours Co. Ltd., the local independent corporation of JTB that has already authorized by China National Tourism Administration (CNTA), in this autumn. The new corporation will function as a core base for JTB to develop its business strategy for China. Also, JTB has revealed that it is preparing to launch a new independent corporation for the growing event and convention businessmarket in Beijing.
