*Hankyu has begun studying FIT products for baby boomers

Hankyu Express International, Director, Managing Executive Officer, Ichiro Namai revealed at an interview with the Wing Travel Weekly, “I think baby boomers tend to prefer individual travel to conventional group travel. We have already begun studying FIT products for baby boomers to meet new demands.” At the same time, Hankyu keeps making efforts for further growth of Trapics, the core package tour brand. The travel company will probably create new Trapics products suitable for FIT.

*JAL Managing Directorscall for its CEO's resignation

It was reported on February 15 that four Managing Directors of JAL Group have called for resignation of JAL President and CEO Toshiyuki Shinmachi, Executive Vice President Katsuo Haneda and Senior Managing Director Hidekazu Nishizuka to take their responsibilities for aggravation of the business. However, Shinmachi quickly refused the demand and has requested them to devote themselves to their own duties.

*Club Tourism is offering new services to baby boomers for deeper communications

Club Tourism Chairman and CEO Hideo Takahashi said at an interview with the Wing Travel Weekly that the travel company will start innovative services for baby boomers, placing 2006 as a year to consolidate thebusiness toward full-scale retirement of baby boomers in 2007. For innovative services, Club Tourism has already launched a business development section on January 1 this year. It will start a financial service as a securities intermediate business as early as May this year and is planning to start a new service to support retiringbaby boomers for reemployment next year.

*Discussion begins in earnest toward Japan-Thailand Tourism Promotion Year

Pracha Maleenont, Minister of Tourism and Sports of Thailand, and Juthamas Siriwan, the Governor of Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), visited Japan in early February to join "Thainess to the World"event in Sapporo. Minister Maleenont has proposed to place 2007 as "Year of Japan-Thailand Tourism Promotion" in accordance with the 120th anniversary of friendship between both nations.Accepting the proposal, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the counterpart of Japan, will soon begin working-level discussions with TAT.
