Club Med held a news conference in Tokyo on August 24 this year to explain anew brand "Face" to the Japanese market, joined by Club Med Asia Pacific President and CEO Joel Tiphonnet and Club Med JapanPresident Masaru Morimoto. Club Med is proposing new vacation styles to exploit potential customers, upgrading its Villages comprehensively and combining its sales points of nature experiences and warmhospitality with luxury staying.

*Macau LCC hopes to flyinto local cities of Japan first

Preparing for the beginning of flight business in March next year, Macau Eagle Aviation Service, the Macau-based low cost carrier (LCC), recently joined North Asia Low Cost Airline Symposium in Kitakyushu City,Fukuoka Prefecture. The start-up airline CEO Andrew Pyne, who visited Japan to attend the Symposium, said at an interview with the Wing Aviation Press, "We hope to fly into Japan first by 2007. Our target destinations are not large cities, such as Tokyo or Osaka,but local cities like Kitakyushu, Sendai or Komatsu."

The tourism administration of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport started under the new leadership of Deputy Vice-Minister for Tourism Policy Kosuke Shibata on August 2 when the personnel changeswas officially enforced.

*Kinki and Hankyu are authorized to launch independent companies in China

Shao Qiwei, director of the China National Tourism Administration, revealed at China-Japan Tourism Exchange Promotion Conference on July 26 that the Chinese government has authorized Kinki Nippon Tourist (KNT)and Hankyu Express International to launch independent travel companies in China. Those will be the fourth and the fifth travel agentsthat establish independent travel companies in China, following JALPAK (Beijing), ANA Sales (Beijing) and Nippon Travel Agency (Shanghai).
At the same time, NOE, Hitachi Travel Bureau and Toyota Tourist are authorized to open business offices in China.
